From a castle to the riverbank — where to shoot your engagement photos

 

An engagement session is one of our favorite parts of working with a couple — it's a low-pressure way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day, and Napa Valley happens to offer some of the most beautiful backdrops around. Here are a few of our go-to spots.




Castello di Amorosa — Calistoga, CA


A genuine castle in the middle of Napa Valley, Castello di Amorosa is dramatic, romantic, and endlessly photogenic. It's also one of our favorite locations for a surprise proposal — the setting alone makes the moment feel like something out of a fairy tale.

Napa River — Napa, CA


For couples who want something a little more natural and relaxed, the Napa River offers gorgeous open space and some of the best sunset light in the valley. It's simple, unfussy, and always beautiful.

Inglenook Winery — Rutherford, CA


Inglenook offers a smaller, more intimate winery experience, centered around an iconic fountain that makes for a stunning focal point. Like Castello di Amorosa, it's also a great pick for a surprise engagement — the setting does a lot of the emotional heavy lifting.

Housed in one of the most iconic buildings in the valley, CIA at Greystone pairs striking architecture with a vineyard right across the street — a great option if you want both a grand backdrop and classic Napa scenery in the same session.
